In this session you will learn about key epidemiology concepts and tools, and how these can help to control disease and improve health.
Epidemiology is the study of how health is distributed in populations and what factors determine good and bad health. The goals of epidemiological investigations are to control disease and improve health and wellness. Most familiar to most people these days is the need to control and to develop an understanding of the infectious disease SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), with the goal of controlling the spread of infection and improving health outcomes in those who are infected.
In this session Dr. Sandra Magalhaes will introduce you to concepts in epidemiology, including:
- What tools are used
- How these tools are applied
- What they tell us
- Limitations and successes of the field of study
