Lunch & Learn Series: Information in Action – From Research to Practice
Session 1: Identifying Information Gaps
Date: Wednesday, October 25, 2017
Location: CCR 114 or online via Adobe Connect (https://mssu.adobeconnect.com/infoinaction1/)
Professionals working in healthcare practice and research ask complicated questions that have a number of components and variable terminology. Have you ever requested a literature search, only to get back results that don’t match what you thought you asked for? Do you sometimes find yourself searching databases like PubMed or CINAHL, only to end up down a rabbit hole of seemingly irrelevant results? Learn how to frame a research question so that you get the results you’re really looking for. This interactive session will help you break down the parts of your question so you can submit a clearly articulated literature search request and carry out a methodological database search that will get you the results you’re really interested in. Participants may bring a current research question to use as an example.
