This course is made up of 2 parts
Part 1 - Feb 11 - 10am to 12pm
Part 2 - Feb 18 - 10am to 12pm

Statistics provides a set of tools that can be used to gain insight and answer practical questions using data, which always begins with describing data. This course (i) focuses on developing an understanding of the basic tools used to explore and describe data, and (ii) provides an overview of methods to generate and present summary statistics. The course includes a comprehensive introduction to statistical topics ranging from identifying different data types (continuous, binary), describing central tendency (average, median) and corresponding variability (standard deviation). By the end of the course, you will be familiar with and able to summarize different data types in tables and graphs.

On completion of this course, will be able to:

  1. Discuss various methods available for describing data
  2. Generate and interpret summary statistics
  3. Appropriately summarize data in tables and graphs
